The source is the whole plant of Polygonaceae. Harvested in autumn, washed, dried or used fresh.
The original form carries the board back, also known as: Polygonum perforatum.
Perennial trailing herb, all glabrous. The stems are ribbed, with barbed barbs on the ribs, multi-branched, green, sometimes reddish, 1 to 2 meters long. The leaves are alternate, nearly triangular, 2 to 5 cm long and 5 cm wide, light green, with sparse barbed spines on the lower veins, and sometimes scattered barbs on the leaf margins; petioles are shield-shaped, almost as long as the leaves, but down Uncooked barbed spines; stent leaf-shaped, round or oval, phimosis, 2 to 3 cm in diameter. Short spikes, terminal or born in the upper leaf axils, small, many flowers; buds, each containing 2 to 4 flowers; perianth 5-lobed, white or light reddish purple, lobes ovate, not very spread, with fruit It enlarges and becomes fleshy; stamens 8; pistils 1, ovary ovoid, style 3-forked. The achenes are spherical, about 3 mm in diameter, dark brown, shiny, and encased in blue perianth. Flowering from June to August, fruiting from September to October.
Habitat subdivisions were born on barren banks and rivers. It is distributed all over the country. Produced in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Hunan, Guizhou and other places.
The whole plant is dry, with purple-red or purple-brown stem surface, smooth, with fine straight vertical stripes and numerous inverted thorns, and the nodes have ring marks with broken sheaths. The fracture surface is nearly square, fibrous, yellow-white, with white loose pith or small pores. Most of the leaves have fallen off, and the remaining leaves are brownish-green, broken and shrunken, brittle and easy to fall. Flower spikes grow on the top, wilting or persistent. The breath is weak and the taste is weak.
Chemical composition The whole plant contains flavonoid glycosides, anthracene glycosides, cardiac glycosides, phenols, amino acids, organic acids, tannins and sugars (about 7.48% sucrose, about 3.4% reducing sugar, and 2.884% starch).
The seeds contain 3.3% oil. Achenes contain 12.47% oil.

Clinical application:
①Treat whooping cough
Take 1 tael from the carrying plate (decrease for infants), stir-fry with white wine, add rock sugar and decoct, take it twice a day; or add 1 tael of Houttuynia cordata, and decoct it for 3 yuan. Twenty-six cases were treated with single use of carrying board. 19 cases were markedly effective, 5 cases were effective, and 2 cases were ineffective.
