Source: This product is the dried rhizome of Cibotium barometz (L.) J.Sm. Excavate in the second season of autumn and winter, remove the sediment and dry; or remove the hard roots, petioles and golden fluff, cut into thick slices, and dry, which is "raw dog ridge slices"; after steaming, sun dry until 60 or 70% dry, and cut Thick slices, dry, "cooked dog ridge slices".

Properties: This product is in the shape of irregular long blocks with a length of 10-30cm and a diameter of 2-10cm. The surface is dark brown, with golden fluff remaining; there are several reddish-brown wood petioles on the top, and fine black roots remaining on the bottom. The quality is hard, not easy to break. Odorless, light and slightly astringent. The raw dog ridge is irregularly long or round, 5-20cm long, 2-10cm diameter, 1.5-5mm thick; the cut surface is light brown, smooth, and there is a brown-yellow raised xylem near the edge 1～4mm Rings or stripes, irregular edges, occasional golden fluff remains; brittle, easy to break, and powdery. The cooked dog spine is dark brown and hard.

There are more than 10 rows of brown-yellow thick-walled cells with obvious wall holes. The xylem is arranged in a ring and is composed of tracheids. There are phloem and endothelial layer inside and outside, and the cortex and pith are composed of parenchyma cells. The cells are full of starch grains, and some contain yellow-brown substances.

Processed dog ridge: remove impurities; if not sliced, wash, moisturize, cut into thick slices, and dry.

Hot dog ridges: Take raw dog ridge slices and scald them with sand until they bulge. After cooling, remove the remaining fluff.

Nature and flavor: bitter, sweet, warm.

Return meridian: return liver and kidney meridian.

Functions and indications: invigorating liver and kidney, strengthening waist and spine, dispelling rheumatism. Used for sore waist and knee, weakness of lower limbs, rheumatic arthralgia.

Usage: The dosage is 6-12g.
