Alias: Camellia root, Scutellaria tea, earth gold tea root

Source This product is a dry root of Scarellaria baicalensis Georgi. Spring and autumn excavation, remove the fibrous roots and sediment, after the sun hit the rough skin, dried.

Traits this product was conical, twisted, long 8 ~ 25cm, diameter 1 ~ 3cm. Surface brown or dark yellow, sparse verrucous fine root marks, the upper part of the more rough, twisted longitudinal wrinkles or irregular reticulate, the lower part of the smooth and fine wrinkles. Hard and brittle, easy to break, cross-section yellow, middle reddish brown; old root center immortal or hollow, was dark brown or brown black. Gas slightly, bitter taste.

Identification:

(1) This product powder yellow. Bone fibers scattered in a single or a number of bundles, spindle, length 60 ~ 250μm, diameter 9 ~ 33μm, wall thickness, hole fine. Stone cells round, square or rectangular, thick or very thick wall. Cork cells brown, polygonal. Threaded catheter more common, diameter 24 ~ 72μm.
