The source is the ore of the oxide mineral quartz. After harvesting, choose pure white quartz.

The original form of quartz ("Compendium") trigonal crystal system. The crystals are in the shape of a hexagonal column, with horizontal stripes on the crystal surface of the column, and are often produced in aggregates such as clusters and granules. The color is colorless or white. Due to the impurities contained, the crystals often show various colors, with light red, smoky, purple, etc. being common. Streaks are white. The crystals show glass luster, and the blocks show oily luster, with different luster strengths. Transparent to translucent, and some are opaque. The fracture is conchoidal or uneven. Hardness 7. The specific gravity is 2.65. Brittle. With focal pyroelectricity and piezoelectricity. Complete crystals are produced in rock crystal caves, and massive ones are often produced in hydrothermal veins; they are also an important part of various rocks such as granite, gneiss, and sandstone.

The habitat branch is produced in Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hubei, Hebei, Fujian, Shaanxi and other places.

The traits are irregular blocks, mostly angular and different in size. The whole is white or milky white, and some are slightly yellow. The surface is not flat and smooth, transparent to opaque, with glass luster or fat luster. The white quartz used in Shanghai and Beijing is crystal. Crystal and white quartz are the same mineral, that is, the colorless and transparent crystal of quartz.

The chemical composition contains: silicon dioxide (SiO2), of which Si53.3%, O46.7%; in addition, it also contains different impurities, such as A1+++, Fe+++, Na+, K+, etc.

Concoct white quartz: wash, dry and smash. Calcined white quartz: Take clean white quartz and smash it, put it in a crucible, burn it in a smokeless furnace, take it out, let it cool, and grind it. There are also vinegar calciners.
